For Your Information:

Access II has one lift equipped van: a 2002 Dodge Ram 3500 1-Ton Extend-A-Cab/Roof Van, with side wheelchair lift.  Consumers are invited to reserve the van for medical and dental appointments, recreation, conferences and other events when other means of transportation are unavailable. Up to 2 wheelchairs and several adults may be accommodated by the space available in the van. To drive the van, you must:

Have a valid driver's license

Have a clean driving record

Have current insurance (we also carry insurance)

Sign a 'Hold Harmless' waiver

Furnish your own gasoline

Although we prefer that you provide your own driver, with a week's advance notice, a volunteer may be able to be provided. To reserve the van, please call us at 660-663-2423 or 660-663-2663 Telephone Communications for the Deaf (TDD).

Internet Access:

Internet access to national, or worldwide, resources available for disability or medical related issues. If you are unfamiliar with using a computer, or the Internet, we will gladly assist with your independent use of the equipment.

Resource Library:

Books on disability related issues, handouts/literature on difference disabilities, disability catalogs, audiotapes, magazines, and legislative information is available upon request.

Other Related Services

Community Education - An outreach program to educate citizens, businesses, and organizations about disability-related issues. Workshops are available to larger groups.

Equipment Loan Program - Program to provide assistive equipment to consumers on a short-term basis.  For a complete listing, feel free to call.

Housing Assistance and Referrals - Are provided to locate accessible, affordable housing. Technical assistance provided to public and private sectors.

Individualized Educational Program (IEP) Services - School-based advocacy skills to benefit students with disabilities in designing their Individual Educational Plan. Current laws provide for technical assistance for an acceptable IEP.

Individual and Systems Advocacy - Advocacy is one of our 4-core services, as described in our brochure.  Everyone on our staff can provide assistance in either type of advocacy.  Advocacy issues can be related to: Transportation, benefits, housing, employment, access to public services, and school related programs.

Legislative Alert - Immediate notification of disability related laws and pending legislative decisions that directly affect you. Provide us your address or fax number and you'll be immediately alerted. Training on how to respond to your legislator is provided.

Newsletter - Containing disability issues, support groups, resources, and other disability-related information on a quarterly basis.


Consumer Directed Services (CDS) - Service that provides in-home care for consumers who choose to remain in their homes. Access II maintains a registry to locate personal attendants for consumers.

Tax Incentives- For employers of people with disabilities are available.  Discover how to benefit in more ways than one when hiring a person with a disability.

Technical Assistance - We provide technical assistance to consumers, businesses, and state and local governments about rights and responsibilities under the  Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related laws.  On-site surveys and written reports are provided upon request.

Telephone Services - Access II has a Telecommunications for the Deaf (TDD) for hearing and speech impaired individuals to contact us for services.

Youth Services - Educational programs such as: Just Like Me and You, Windmills, and Counseling Towards Solutions is available. All of these programs raise "disability awareness" and assist disabled and non-disabled students with social skills, coping skills, and decision-making skills.

Low Vision Center - Access II has a Low Vision Center for residents age 55 and older who have difficulty reading due to low vision. Aids and devices are available for loan to assist the visually impaired. The Low Vision Center is made possible by a federal grant awarded to the Rehabilitation Services for the Blind

Medicaid Recipients:  If you are a Medicaid recipient and have lost a service that is medically necessary, you can apply for a Medicaid Exception. A Certificate of Medical Necessity must accompany the exception request.  You can find the Certificate here Medicaid Exception Request.pdf - 92.59K.
